- Avoid wearing a white material. The way webcams work with light can make white clothes look too bright and distracting. A color on the darker side is advisable, something like light blue.
- Do not wear a black shirt. Webcams will try to increase the light and make the black as visible as possible. This can make your face look washed out because of the increased brightness.
- Avoid wearing bright colors such as yellow, or red. This can make your skin color take an unnatural reddish appearance on camera.
- Striped ties should be avoided. It is important to note that when you wear two highly contrasting colors on camera, it can be distracting and that won’t look good.

Smiling is important. It shows you are socially aware and that you are a pleasant person to work with. However, like every other thing in life, too much of it should be avoided.
